Everybody knows what Botox is: a medicinal version of botulism that can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles. However, some people seem to go overboard with it. And it’s always obvious. Their faces look frozen, incapable of expression. The celebrities who’ve gone too far with any sort of plastic surgery, no matter how minor, are often the subject of ridicule. Don’t let this happen to you!
The good thing about Botox is that it does wear off after a while. It’s not permanent. But it doesn’t always look right on everyone, which is to say if you have one treatment and you notice any of the following, it may be time to seek your ever-lasting youthful look in another treatment.
1. Are you incapable of showing emotions? If so, you’ve probably had too much. Yes, this treatment temporarily paralyzes your facial muscles but if it renders you incapable of smiling, squinting, or looking perplexed, it might be best to skip it.
2. Do you look permanently wide-eyed? We’re talking Nicole Kidman in her Botox days here, people. It’s not a good look. Make sure the end result is actually better than what you looked like in the past before you book your next appointment.
3. Is it achieving what you want? That is, are you actually looking younger after your injections or do you look the same, just emotionless? It may be that you need a different type of cosmetic procedure to achieve the results you want. Botox may not be the right treatment for you. For some, chemical peels or fillers can get better results. But again, you definitely don’t want to overdo it with those, either.
The key to going through cosmetic procedures and not looking like an alien is to do it in moderation. Don’t rush to the plastic surgeon and order off their list of services like the menu at McDonald’s. Actually think about the procedures you’re getting done, their potential side effects, and what you will look like afterward. These procedures are an investment so it’s important you research them thoroughly and research your potential surgeon. There are some con artists out there who could really damage you. Don’t let yourself be taken advantage of.
Injections can help you to look younger but it’s not the solution for everyone. Just remember that as you pursue your own treatment plan.
